Hi, boychat. Please find below a link to a paper Desiree Elchuk and myself recently had accepted for publication in the journal Stigma and Health. I absolutely thrilled to share this paper with everyone here on the forum. Desiree did data collection on a few MAP forums in Jan/Feb 2019. People were so gracious with their time in completing the research, and we are exceptionally grateful to everyone who participated in our work. The paper provides some nuance in understanding stigma-related stress and the complexities of making disclosures. There were also some saddening results, too. Namely, the rates of loneliness and suicidality reported in the sample were very high. The rates were so high, that we were not thinking to zero in on this finding when we set out to write the paper, but we felt obliged to point out how much loneliness and suicidality was reported. When I did a search for research looking at loneliness and suicidality in other populations, I couldn't find any rates that even came close. Even though there is an impressive level of nuance in what we were able to look at, this is of course a single study and there are a host of questions that arise from what we find that are possibilities for future research, some/most of which I hope to do in the future. You can find the paper at the link below. For people who use Tor/have concerns with opening a PDF, let me know what would be a better/more secure way to share this with you. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/350158068_Stigma-Related_Stress_Complex_Correlates_of_Disclosure_Mental_Health_and_Loneliness_in_Minor_Attracted_People Thanks again to this incredible community. We are humbled by your willingness to engage with us researchers and contribute to the scientific understanding of your experiences. Ian. [@nonymouse] [Guardster] [Proxify] [Anonymisierungsdienst] |
