"this sample may represent an especially distressed sample, since these individuals were participating on a forum for those seeking support" this seems misleading. while i don't know about virped, i think that people on forums like BC - or youthlovers who have support networks of other youthlovers generally - would likely tend to be less distressed for the obvious reason that they have a support network. when i say it's misleading, i mean that it's almost as if it's saying "what we are doing to these individuals and their lovers might not be as terrible as one could assume", downplaying the oppression of youthlovers (and by inference loved youth) that may in fact be worse than could be assumed from the data presented. |
