That's what makes BC a toxic cult. These guys tell folks that no one will ever love or accept them as they are, except their fellow cult members. Just look at all the horrified reactions to the advice for the babysitter to trust their young friend's parents. Its got nothing to do with BC being a toxic cult. Its got to do with you giving objectively bad advice. Why assume badge involvement? Why predict brutality? Where's the hope? Where's the faith? Where's the positivity? Where's the love? Because in every case that has ever been brought up, people coming out, whether its to friends, parents, or whatever, has gone very badly. That doesnt mean that its 100% sure, or that theres no times where it has been positive, but its like you advising someone to jump off a building even though everyone knows its a bad idea, just because you heard of someone who survived a 30000 feet fall from an aircraft. The preponderance of evidence is that it is bad for you to come out to people you know. these parents that none of us know anything at all about? You know nothing about them either. In which case, the only evidence we have is that its gone badly for pretty much everyone who came out to their family, and its not "cult behavior" to advise a person not to come out to their family on that basis. There is never going to be any progress in society until we stop seeing each other as polarized exaggerated straw man characters from the harmful narratives of our troubled minds and start by admitting that we don't necessarily know what's in the minds of other people until we give them a chance and talk to them. Hahahahaha, the fucking irony. |
