There's nothing wrong with adhominem arguments. Lol what? Of course there is, they are not arguments, thats the whole point. I dont think you know what you are talking about. "you are living in your moms basement, therefore you are wrong" is not a valid logical argument. I can make an equally invalid argument by saying "you are a christian , therefore you are wrong" both are invalid. The fact of me living in my moms basement, or you being a christian, says nothing about whether what we are saying is actually true or not. attacking a persons character, or using a persons character as part of your argument, is fallacious. There is a reason why adhominems are not accepted as a valid argument. At some point it makes more sense to use colorful language to illustrate the type of character that the person is portraying No it doesnt make more sense. Attacking the character of the person, rather than addressing what they say, is not a valid argument. |
