It is not always easy to distinguish the diagnosis of pedophilia from that of POCDI think that pedophilia is not a mental disorder. I don't understand how it qualifies under a mental disorder. Just for arguments sake, if it is a disorder, it is not a mental disorder, it is a sexual disorder. So I am not sure if it qualifies to be in the DSM. The DSM is (as stated on the DSM website, www.dsm5.org): Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) is the standard classification of mental disorders used by mental health professionals in the United States and contains a listing of diagnostic criteria for every psychiatric disorder recognized by the U.S. healthcare system. I wonder how it ended up there? As for a sexologist I would not advise the person on going to one because in all probability they would not know how to deal with him. I have found that it would be good to talk to someone who is ready to handle and deal with the situation. So far all the professionals I have seen, I taught them about the situation and I felt that I was the person who was counseling them on my situation not the other way round. That is why I feel that B4U-ACT seem like they are going in the right direction. Just thought that I had to clear things up. [@nonymouse] [Guardster] [Proxify] [Anonymisierungsdienst] |
