It is not always easy to distinguish the diagnosis of pedophilia from that of POCD, or "purely obsessive obsessive-compulsive disorder." In some cases of OCD, the individual is obsessed with how he is viewed by the society around him, and little is more reviled in the popular mind than the pedophile, hence it is not uncommon for that to present in patients with OCD. No compulsions are associated with these cases, hence the name. And as Marty has already pointed out, you are not a pedophile in any case although you may be an ephebophile (sexually attracted to teens). Given the traits of sexual masochism you describe, you may want a second opinion on your diagnosis, this time from a qualified sexologist. |
