I just don't believe we will prevent fascism by telling people that the free market has only failed for half a century because it hasn't been implemented in its complete purity, as is suggested by your blaming a piece of legislation from 1947. This is a typically Faragian 'solution': deregulate, slash protections for the countryside, never mind the consequences. No, I'm sorry, there must be a better way than a scorched Earth. To me, your utopia is unreal and vacuous. The free market has been hailed as the solution to our problems since 1979, with results we can see. We cannot afford to wait a further 50 years to see if the billionaires will get round to 'investing' in what the country needs. The next election is in 2029; a bolder politics that addresses real needs is required now. Otherwise, Faragism - fascism - wins. ![]() |
