No, because Britain was actually doing very well building social housing with the 1947 Act in place prior to Thatcher's sell off schemes. Free market purity is utopian because it leads to the creation of classes and social conditions that eventuate in a politics that will undermine this purity by, for example, working class grievance being directed onto migrants and turned into populist authoritarianism by men like Farage. This is what we are seeing unfold before our very eyes. Pure market liberalism has proved a will o' the wisp.
