Just because you want that to be true, doesn't mean it is true. Kids are bombarded with heterosexual imagery every day and long before they hit puberty. Grade school kids know about sex though maybe not an accurate picture of the intricacies.

The majority of gay kids know they are different from their peers by the time they hit 7. Unless they live in a very supportive environment, it is a lot of weight for a 7-year-old to carry around and deal with alone.

You can cling to your romanticized ideas of little kids innocence but they are people to with desires. Those desires might differ at age 7 from what they will be at 13 or even 20... but they still need to be recognized. Simply saying that don't have them is sticking your head in the sand...and then acting surprise when you read in the News of a 10-year-old raping a little girl.

Children do not need to have their innocence "protected" because it is an adult fantasy to think that they are innocent. By the time they enter school, they have already absorbed a good deal of information and will they learn even more from their peers and older siblings.

You do much more harm then good by not acknowledging kids as people and trying to keep them ignorant and misinformed.
