..but if those files had been travelling through the router in an encrypted form then I am guessing he'd be out of trouble by now, albeit probably under close scrutiny by the police.

I confess I usually share files unencrypted to get better speed but I use a file-sharing program (Vuze) that has I2P/Tor encryption as an option for the paranoid, and I am able to see within my program that other people I'm sharing with are either using encryption as well or not as the case may be, but usually encryption schemes particular to their software.

I should add that I am not file-sharing sexual imagery of any sort.. just movies, TV, music and the odd program here and there.
