However, in this particular case, the guy got busted because of the easily readable form of the contents on his modem or router. If the contents were encrypted then that evidence could not have been used against him. I guess the cops couldn't find anything useful elsewhere on his computer. I2P does ensure anonymity in the same way as Tor (onion routing), but the network is less-used by the public at large.. I'm presuming just because of a lack of knowledge about it. Whether I2P beats Tor or the other way around is up for grabs. Vuze makes sharing with encryption optional, and I often choose not to bother because it severely limits the number of other sources for a file that I might happen to want. Sometimes there will be no-one else at the time that is using the I2P at all (wish it weren't so), and I also choose out of the goodness of my own heart to not use Tor for the purpose either. |
