Well, then you're using the word "imperialist" as just a swear word, in the same way as Americans use "Marxist" or "communist" or "liberal". I know a couple of people in my community who did nothing more than publicly show their solidarity with Palestine by putting out a Palestine flag, and who were then subject to rather nasty personal attacks for being "pro-Hamas" and "pro-terrorist". The notion that you cannot be in favour of justice for the Palestinian people and against Zionist barbarism without being a supporter of terror is a right wing Zionist trope used to delegitimise pro-Palestinian activism. It is disappointing to find you endorsing this false claim. https://www.newarab.com/analysis/numbers-how-uk-press-demonised-pro-palestine-protests "While there have been instances of individuals outwardly celebrating Hamas’s armed wing, these have been rare exceptions to the rule at the protests [in the UK]. This did not stop [tabloid] publications from routinely interpreting Arab clothing (keffiyehs) and Arabic-language placards as ‘evidence’ of Islamic terror or anti-Semitism, thereby showcasing the racist assumption that symbols of Palestinian/Arab culture and resistance are synonymous with Islamic extremism." ![]() |
