why people insist on identifying as monsters?

To most people in the world the word "pedophile" means kidnapper, rapist, murderer, cannibal. A sexual predator. Unless someone were to actually be coming out as a violent serial child rapist (and hopefully surrendering to the cops), they are stoopid to call themselves "pedophile." Calling yourself a word that almost everyone in the English speaking world uses to mean monster that needs to be put down before it attacks again is asking for misunderstanding. Self identifying as a "pedophile" is on the same level as newly converted Christians for whom English is not their first language going around asking to be referred to as cannibals. "No no," they insist. "For us it means we consume the body of Christ in the holy sacrament of communion. Try to remember that for us when we say cannibal, we mean devout Christian." See how stupid that sounds?
