surrendering to common parlance is a good thing

What you call surrendering to common parlance a less biased observer might call "becoming socialized" or "learning common English terms." It's fine for oddball nerds to use specialized niche vocabulary among themselves, but when they try to proscribe their word choices on the masses they should expect to be misunderstood.
