GLTTA has a fairly clear ideological motive. If it were more ideologically neutral, I would be more keen to agree, but the emphatic focus that "most men in history involved in Greek love affairs were attracted to women just as much", "Both the boys and the men involved usually married and had families", etc. It is fairly obviously trying to separate pederasty from being "gay" by framing it as compatible with heterosexual marriage. This, in spite of some pederasts being very fervently against reproduction, e.g E.E Bradford: "So some men counsel: "Breed and multiply!" The most prolific race at last will win. Send forth your sons in myriads to die Or kill their fellows. Till next war begin, Breed on with fury; pour your children in Till every shop and factory be full, And labour cheap. What if they're starved and thin? — I have no heart to procreate Earth children for the sword: The Love that links me to my mate, Himself is his reward." Am I against such a website and such beliefs existing? Absolutely not, indeed I have used it before, but IMO if it truly seeks to be "through the ages", it needs to look beyond its own ideological lens. There's a subtle but significant difference between a neutral repository and a repository with a propagandisic/rhetorical function. I might otherwise lend an article, but if Edmund and/or sympathisers to that ideological bent are in the reign, I'm more wary. |
