Who determines "science"? Is giving methamphetamines to children scientific? Homosexuality used to be called a mental disorder before it became classified as a sexuality. If we went by "science" then, all the gays would be put in a mental asylum. The eugenics movement was scientific too. I don't see how going by "science" alone gives any sort of moral clarity, nor does it determine whether or not something is correct. In fact, what you are proposing is not a scientific worldview, but a Scientismic worldview, that is, the replacement of one dogma with another. Science is not the final word, science is a method towards discovery and advancement. Just because a bunch of scientists agree on something or even worse, one study finds a result, doesn't make it true and correct. Intelligent and honest scientists realize this too, it's the layman who wants the priest (the media) telling him what to believe that is the problem. |
