but I don't think they are inseparable, it's not inevitable. Well, it depends. What it culture, and how does it manifest? Im not sure you can just pick and choose values or beliefs from different cultures and build a new country/culture out of them. How do cultural values intertwine or work together? What happens if you try and remove one value, is that even possible? And the living example is most of the people posting on BC. we're modern (eg we use the internet) but reject many of the mainstream views that surround us, and I'm sure that collectively a working successful culture could be created around that kind of thinking. Lol, Im more skeptical. The fact that we use the internet and reject a small subset of beliefs does not mean we could successfully run a small state peacefully. |
