You seem to be saying (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that humanity consist of two types of "computers": an Xy, and an XX model. I would first contend that every human "computer" is unique. But more to the point; I want to use this anology for a lesson in performativity. I'm going to try to interpret Butler in that context: What Butler points out is that a guy (an Xy "computer") can run the software of a female (be a drag queen) better than a woman (XX "computer") runs that software. A drag queen becomes more woman-- can be an "over the top" woman. Therefore Xy and the XX versions of our "hardware" put very little limitation on how effectively we can run the "software" of gender performance. |
