My background is the gay community - I've known 1001 S/M people including most of the best writers - met 'em all, even Pat Califia. Can't get too specific about it while the cloaking device is on. There are good books, but also 40 years' worth of thoughtful articles, mostly in gay journals of various kinds. Much of this is lost in obscurity - I hope it will eventually all come online. No one yet has the wherewithal to do objective studies on S/M, as far as I know. One of the main problems is that people try to read sociocultural politics into its causation where they should be looking at early childhood dynamics. Wanting to be shat on does not signal that you're a member of an economically oppressed class. Developmentally, fetishes are not politics. Later in life they can cross over into politics - as evidenced by our pathetic nemesis Cynthia Jean Harvey, widely self-publicized sadist from Kansas who also likes to torture pedos with wikisposure in the hopes that they will really squirm. C&BT is the extremely popular fetish of 'cock and ball torture,' where the penis and testicles are dripped on with hot wax, mini-shocked with electrodes, and so on. If you think that sounds hostile, you don't get it. Not that I think you, Martir, think this. You're a quick study. Just be glad your boy fantasies don't include it. Inevitably, the pedo version of this fetish is happening to someone out there; statistics alone make it terribly probable. He's probably not hostile either, but no one would ever believe it. |
