Comparing animal sexualities to human is seldom a winning game, because they're different. We have sexualities that are formed through consciousness and thus involve symbolism. I don't know much about higher ape sexualities, but certainly when you get to dogs, cats and ungulates, you're into highly different constructions where animals have periodic heat, and so on. Humiliation is facultatively part of human sexuality because it may symbolize a sexually tinged abeyance of control. I know this isn't easy to understand, but in the gay world there are plenty who get a hardon from being spat on and called 'fag' (by the right person), even though they are not self-hating and in daily life are good citizens of gay pride. One of my friends, when he was 15, avidly dreamed of being humiliated by a male teacher in front of the class; his creme de la creme fantasy was being j/o'd by the teacher's hand at his desk with all the other students watching this uber-humiliating punishment (needless to say, this young man was quite into older fellows and was a significant legal hazard). |
