Bach and Beethoven are both Krauts and the Well Tempered Klavier AND the 32 Sonatas are considered the "Old Testament" and "New Testament" of piano music... Bach is great for finger independence and how to properly bring out inner voices....And I've been working on Ludwig's "Pathetique" Sonata, (#8 in C minor Op.13), which us fun for all the Sturm und Drang in the terrific first movement. Wagner didn't write much for the piano, except for a couple of very youthful piano sonatas....which are seldom played - for good reason, (they ain't that hot.) His son-in-law Franz Liszt wrote some incredibly difficult transcriptions of Wagner's opera music excerpts but I haven't the time or dedication to even try 'em. BTW....the ancient Sumerians and Egyptians were brewing beer long before Germanic tribes started scribbling cave drawings..... ;=) PROST!!!! ![]()
