Even though I regard you as the best logician I have ever encountered No you dont. Please stop. So by this alone, believing he can fly is a subjective truth. No its not a belief is either true, or not. Its not subjectively true So billys belief "I can fly" is a false belief. Its objectively false. In no way is it subjectively true. Just holding a belief does not make it true, subjectively or otherwise. The fact that he believes it, does not then mean that its subjectively true. And what that mind perceives remains a subjective truth, until, as in the case of Billy, a different perception causes him to think otherwise, No it doesnt remain a subjective truth . It remains a belief that he holds, that is false. If he tries to fly, and fails he will then ( hopefully) drop the false belief. The fact that someone holds a belief, does not make it subjectively true. It just means that they hold that belief. Holding a belief is totally separate from whether the belief is actually true or not, and holding a belief has no bearing on whether that belief is actually true or not. |
