Obviously you don't know your history because it was students who were the hostage-takers and embassy staff (mostly military, some civilians) who were the hostages. Plus the US Embassy was a den of spies and used previously to overthrow the Iranian government in 1953.

Furthermore, it was Reagan who kept the hostages in Iran even longer in order to win the elections (October surprise). And also did a weapons deal with Iran (Iran-Contra).

Saint Reagan also started the train on outsourcing, including to China, so if you want to blame anyone for American deindustrialization, Reagan is quite a good start.

That's real history, not deluded boomer history.
