The picture of a bleeding Trump raising his fist and shouting "grab her by the pussy!" (or whatever it was, it doesn't matter at all) will be the defining image of this campaign. It worked for Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil back in 2018, and he only had to endure a much-less-telegenic stabbing. (I know! In Brazil!! Couldn't they have found a trigger-happy policeman to shoot the guy?) Like or not, Trump is now a blood-stained hero of a beleaguered democracy, and Biden is a doddering granddad who can't remember his own name. And the Democratic Party appears to be utterly paralysed. Completely incapable of rescuing itself from the coming disaster. I tell you, it's grand entertainment. There's no soap opera better than the decline and fall of the American Republic. |
