We all know how feminism is a major obstacle to youth liberation. This is why we must convince feminists that youth liberation is female liberation, which is true btw. Girls face the intersectionality of adultism and anti-female sexism. Both of which are primarily paternalistic. Indeed, I would suggest rebranding feminism as "female liberation". This is both because I don't really want to be associated with the label "feminist" because of the association with adultism, and because girls need to be included (the etymology of "feminism" excludes them), and because liberation must be centred. Other terminology like "rights" promote paternalism, because they don't emphasise liberation. By the way, it's possible that the paternalism of anti-female sexism leads to females being more paternalistic/adultist than males. I know someone here seemed to think it was natural for females to be more paternalistic/adultist. But I don't know if there is evidence for this. Perhaps that notion should be rejected as per Occam's razor, I don't know. I suppose that well, females are naturally more careful about quite a few things, and this might lead them to favour greater restrictions on those things, and those restrictions include paternalism/adultism. Like I've long thought that females want greater alcohol restrictions because we're less interested in drinking. I said "we're" because I'm female. I am also committed to never drinking. I however detest paternalism and adultism. We all know males are more interested in casual sex than females. No wonder males tend to be less prudish. |
