Yes, absolutely, it was a failure of British imperialism that it enabled Zionism. But just because the British empire enabled Zionism, it doesn't follow that Zionism itself is a harmless ideology. "Yes, Zionism was a Jewish movement seeking a homeland in Palestine. But who could blame the Zionists for believing themselves unwelcome in Europe and the US?" Yes, but Zionism goes beyond just seeking safety in another land. It becomes a harmful ideology when it seeks to ethnically cleanse the pre-existing population from the territory it colonises. ![]() |
