Tilting at strawmen

I think BLs like to come up with strawmen like this because it's easier than facing the fact that the myth of the innocent child has its roots in more intractable social realities. Most people have a natural inclination to protect children. The real question is how much is too much too soon and who gets to make that decision. Present-day standards of living allow the average family to afford shifting that line and deferring the onset of adulthood further than ever before. The sheltered child becomes the naïve child who is then easily envisioned as the fragile child. From there the child is either innocent or corrupted. The most interesting question is how the issue of child sexuality has become subject to this dynamic more than any other. That may partially have a more cultural basis in our discomfiture with sexuality in general, but also in the evolving public image of mental health concerns as we see in the panic over social media. It's a difficult socio-cultural problem to untangle, but, no, easier for the BL to get up on his soapbox and moralize about the sin of irrationality. What a projection that is.
