You weren't the person I was thinking about though I would include you in the group (not everything is about you). More those that try to impose their own personal religious ideology on to others. I think you can know "who a person fundamentally is" or at least have good indications. Of course, you always could try asking them. That reminds me of what Noah Schnapp said, when he finally worked up the courage to come out that his family and friends and they all said, "we knew that". I have read many accounts that mothers knew from a young age that their son was "a Friend of Dorothy" and even some that have said that they knew during pregnancy that it was different from their other children. (Though I expect you will fully discount all of that) All I am saying though is it is OK to follow your kids lead on where they want to go and yes, somethings are phases but it is still important to validate them.
