| Hello Shotacon amidst all the bedlam here at the moment I just wondered if you had a chance to watch this on Sunday? I was really prepared to hate this as the novel is one of my favourites ( as is the original film) but I think the writer and director have done a superb job with this. The backdrop is stunning and the acting from the boys on the whole is very good indeed. The young chap playing Piggy is particularly good as is Jack though there are shades of Draco Malfoy there. I would have to say from a BL point of view that my favourite in the first episode is Simon. He is not the prettiest of the boys but from the first episode seems the most sensitive (spoiler alert). I found the scene where they hurled the dead pilot callously down the cliff very moving. Simon says the Roman Catholic prayer for the dead. I have only seen the first episode so far but this does promise to be good. Of course there has to be padding to stretch it out through four hours of a mini series but I think the spirit of Golding's book has been kept. The only nod to 2026 is that Ralph is mixed race and "diversity" was obviously on the agenda when recruiting the supporting boys. It would not have been that mixed in a 1950s English prep school and a black boy would not have been so respected sadly (you can read "A Nigger at Eton"by Dillibe Onyeama for a more real life portrait) |
