Hypothetical - I'm a lawyer prosecuting this 22 year old. He shared erotic physical intimacy with a friend of his that was 14yo. The facts reveal that it was mutual, no force and that many activities were shared, and it was very common that they sleep over. The verdict comes back guilty, and 8 years in prison, the sentence. I mean really!? Does anyone feel remorse? That this is beyond over the top? That immediate change is a necessity? Not only that, but being a criminal for life on a sex registry... Call it what you want "counterculture" or whatever, It's to me travesty of anything resembling justice, and makes a mockery of the notion of "mental health". I can't, and perhaps never will understand how people think. Am I so emotionally despondent, and morally void? Or perhaps it's quite the opposite? Regardless, I can't understand learned people acting this way, as they wield the gavel of power and so called justice. Or the "PhD" in forensic psychiatry endorsing such savage punishments. |
