I don't mind

...the term MAP. I see it a bit "kid-glovish", much like African-American. Despite ignorance such as Americans calling blacks outside of America, African-Americans (SMH), the term does serve a purpose in a field of terms pre-loaded with hate. The same is true with Pedophile/Pederast which are at an all time high with hateful rage. MAP is an avenue to approach some sensible members of society in a discussion about facts and science. Meaning, if a young PhD tells everyone they would like to enter the field of studying Pedophilia, I'm sure they will get a reaction of disgust and comments a kin to "just lock them up and throw away the key". If they say they want to study MAPs, then maybe others could have an open mind. I know it sounds small, but words and terms DO matter in this self-driven, image-conscience world. In contrary to some here on BC, I do embrace the term. I do hope one day there will be a reclaiming of the terms Pedophile/Pederast like with the reclaiming of Queer by millennials and younger. However, I also embrace the terms Hebephilia and Ephebophilia as I do think it is important in our journey toward acceptance to distinguish on AOA as where some might be able to accept a 12 year old consenting to sex, they might still have an issue with a 5 year old consenting. Personally for me, I do not agree to the terms or movement of Virpeds/NOMAP. I think it is the wrong approach to take the stance of "I know it's wrong, but don't hate me". As I have stated on BC before, I am married and settled down so by circumstance, I am not active with a YF, but that doesn't mean I am the same as Virpeds/NOMAPs. I do not think it is wrong and I find the term "non-offending" troubling as it plays into the Antis hands on their narrative and on their stage. We must claim our own stage.
