I can trace this back to a specific moment years ago. I was on the bus home from TAFE (college) when I was suddenly caught in an awkward social situation. Two kids who I found attractive and a middle-aged woman were all sitting directly across from me. I became intensely self-conscious and didn't know where to look, which spiraled into a full-blown panic attack. That single bus ride was the beginning of it all.
