Thanks for trying to help, and to a certain extent succeeding, as I hadn't seen all these links. There is a mountain of information and misinformation about both men online, but the gaps in it are too important to be able to form a nearly-rounded view of their lives, and without hope of that I won't try to write about them. There is much more about Torey, but almost entirely the allegations against him from 1976. What I would need is his side of his story as I expect he told it to his friends. And some account of his beliefs, tastes, ideals, dislikes. The same goes for Stamford, but the online picture of him is even more inadequate. Beyond the claim he had been a priest, there seems to be nothing whatsoever about his pre-Spartacus life, for example. In his Spartacus days, every year he toured destinations like Sri Lanka and the Philippines popular with boy-lovers and made a point of making himself available to those who happened to be out there at the same time to show them the ropes. This way he must have met hundreds. It would be priceless for the historical record to hear what one or two of them have to say about him. ![]() www.amazon.com/dp/1481222112 |
