You're in control of your thoughts, right? You make up your own mind and form your own opinions, don't you? You're not being controlled by nefarious forces manipulating your way of see reality, are you?

This video linked to below may change your mind.

Yeah, you see me railing against psychology/psychiatry, and I give links to the site:
http://www.antipsychiatry.org
... that shows how BigPharma, and psychology/psychiatry harm us.

So why would I now be promoting something that is BASED on psychology?

Well, there are two kinds of psychology -- clinical and experimental.

Clinical psychology studies people who are "sick" and "under treatment" by psychologists/psychiatrists using unproven (often, unprovable) theories about human behavior. And those practitioners often cause more harm than good -- but what they do IS very profitable for those who practice it.

But experimental psychology actually TESTS theories, counts the numbers, and figures out many unexpected things about us, our attitudes, and our behaviors. When it's done right, that is. Don't get me wrong -- it is NOT always done right!

Marketing is experimental psychology. If a marketing campaign works, the company makes more money. If not, then the company loses money. It's all based on the numbers.

Did you see what that Italian guy did for United Colors Of Benetton? Sometimes what he did worked, and sometimes it didn't. He just died yesterday. Check your news feed: "Top stories: Oliviero Toscani dies."

So, who was "the master of spin"? Who taught the world, based on the theories of Sigmund Freud, what are perhaps the best techniques to change people's minds?

Yeah, Freud was wrong about a LOT of things. I won't bother to list them here. But towards the end of his life he became very cynical about human behavior. And history seems to be showing that he was not wrong in thinking that.

Oh, but he had a nephew -- Edward Bernays -- who decided to capitalize on Freud's ideas. To "monetize" them. Which he was VERY successful at doing.

A documentary was made in 2002 which shows just how well society has been swayed using the techniques developed by Bernays. The BBC fought for years to have it taken down every time it was uploaded to YouTube. But finally they gave up, and it has been available now for over a decade.

It's a real eye-opener.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Century_of_the_Self

Now, when are WE going to take a page from the most successful marketers in history and change the image that the public has of us?

And I don't mean, as is being done on one MAP site "that represents MAPS around the world," by pleading, "Forgive us for sometimes kidnapping and murdering kids; we're born this way and cannot control ourselves. So please stop stigmatizing us, and putting us in prisons. It's not fair!"

I REALLY think that that is not the right message to give the public. But they seem to think that it is.

Oh, well...

Read the Wikipedia article, and watch the documentary (four parts, about four hours total) and see if your thinking is influenced.

Millions of people's thinking has been. Why not join them?
