"Since 15-year-old Gabo has known about his paedophilic tendencies, he has tried to control and hide his needs. He confides neither to his friends nor to his mother or sister – the fear of the reactions is too great. He finds support and a listening ear in online chat forums, where he also meets the much older Dave. However, Dave takes advantage of Gabo’s insecurity and a toxic power dynamic develops. When Dave is suddenly arrested by the police on suspicion of abusing minors, Gabo has to make a decision." https://www.schiwagofilm.de/en/project/nodogsallowed/ Trailer with English subtitles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLe1lPuga2g Despite the movie description above, in my view the movie contains no scenes where the protagonist "tries to control his needs". I'd argue the protagonist is written very well and the acting is great as well. This film is a huge step forward compared to e.g. that one cursed Black Mirror episode about a MAP teen. Having said that, the film has also quite a few problematic aspects. There are only two MAP characters in the movie, the protagonist and the MAP villain. I'd say a lot of the subtext of the plot basically is "You young MAPs shouldn't trust other MAPs but instead get therapy because look at this evil MAP villain the poor MAP teen meets". The full movie can be watched here for free, though there aren't any subtitles available: https://www.zdf.de/filme/das-kleine-fernsehspiel/themenseite-no-dogs-allowed-104.html |
