It is complicated because you can't study and understand human development with out taking a multidisciplinary approach. It is not a question of nature vs. nurture, it's a combination of both and as well as how they interact with each other. That is to say that the external does effect the internal . It's extremely complicated. (If you were to sit at you keyboard and type out the complete genome for one person, it would take you about 50 years) There are billions of possible variations between individuals. That is where people like Scotusbaby go wrong. They are only looking at it from one perspective, one angle (and in a simplistic way) so they are not seeing "the big picture". However as a construct for discussing it, I like to use the life's path Metaphor. You start at one point that is not the same point for everyone (your genetic makeup) or the same final destination (the sum of all your experience) as as you move down that path you are becoming what you will be. Though it is also useful to view it as your genetics is the foundation of all that is you will be built upon. Of course from a philosophical POV, it brings into question what is "free will" but that is a discussion for another day :P International Boylove Day BoyWiki |
