Resistance isn't futile

Well, there used to be places where man-boy sex was tolerated, but these have all been extinguished as America's tentacles have spread around the globe. You single out the Republicans for particular opprobrium, but the feminist dominated Democrats are no better towards us. The notion that the most sexually neurotic society on Earth is suddenly going to turn 180 degrees and embrace boylove strikes me as requiring an extraordinary leap of faith. What can I say except that it is not a faith I find myself able to share? Naturally, however, I wish you the best of luck with your hopeless task.

In contrast, resistance to the hegemony that seeks our destruction is not a completely futile exercise. Every small victory against the ruling powers saps their confidence just a little, makes them postpone the next extension of their totalitarian rule. It is not a question of bringing down the system (at least not as yet); but it is a matter of weakening their forces through a war of attrition. The task for the next 30 years is resistance and thus survival.

As The King of Zembla recently speculated, this bottleneck may not be forever. What is now called Artificial Intelligence would be better called Artificial Stupidity. But this will not always be so. AGI will be man's last invention, an invention that can invent other things, and do it millions of times better than the human brain. And these machines will not be under our control. We don't know what comes afterwards - but our present epoch will come to an end, as sure as night follows day.

We should see our current epoch as simply the Orwellian twilight of the West that we happen to be stuck in. It is appalling to have to live in this epoch, and we need all the stoicism that we can muster. But we should see it in its proper context. Most of the 117 billion human lives that have ever been lived have not, after all, been lived in the present epoch. (See diagram linked below.)
