A related but more naive question

Isn't everyone figuring out very fast that AI is nothing but a crowd-pleaser, and that it's relation to truth is entirely accidental? Aren't even it's more naive users already making those taken in by it, isn't it obvious that a machine that generates so precisely the images you want to see is not the machine you need for to gather truth? There's no question that the worst sort of habitus is increasingly encouraged by the immediate gratification it produces, but everyone knows its shit compared even to wikipedia already. All right, not everyone, but the point is, AI, at least as a form of oracle, is too good at what it actually does to mean anything.

The immediate danger, in my opinion, lies not in what AI might try to "tell us," but in what it "knows" and can tell people about us.
