...that is not what I am talking about.... the occasional, " Stop being a wossy and put the worm on your own hook!" is vastly different from systematic torture....whether from a parent, other adult or peer.

Plus, I don't want to go back and rehash the other conversations that I have already had on this topic.

I never said that it does always lead to "the parent killing the child" go back and re-read my last post to you. What I am saying is that trying to force someone to be something they can't be always leads to a negative outcome (and sometimes death).

Take the kid in the article for example: He was 3. He was never going to meet the expectations the adult put on him, no matter how much negative reinforcement was inflicted on him.

That is not to say that it isn't damaging to some older kids as well. It is damaging in many ways, and in particular it devastates their self esteem.

Now you can continue to advocate the for "beat them" until they are "men" crowd or agree with me that it is a bad thing.
