Context?

'Tonight one boy made a remark about the "necessary evil of adulting."'

I'm not sure I understand that remark without the context. Looking up the term, "adulting" seems to refer to anything that requires responsibility. I suppose these SL boys are looking to recapture a life without responsibility, but I'm not sure I can conceive of that outside of roleplay... which I don't find very compelling. Somewhat ironic that when you're a kid you want to be able to take control over your own life, responsibilities being nothing more that what it takes to maintain that independence. I suppose it's human nature to want to have it both ways. I wonder how they feel about "kid" responsibilities like brushing one's teeth or feeding the dog.

"I am harsh with the VirPed folks because they do BL politics and they do it wrong."

Considering there is no apparent "right" form of activism open to us, I find it hard to declare someone's activism as "wrong" (short of advocating violence like Santi's "critical mass" or that Indian guy who wanted to turn the world into a post-apocalyptic nuclear boyland). The public is more willing to engage with a virped than with a pro-contact pedo and the virped is better situated to dispel the image of the pedo as a monster and to humanize him instead. By definition virpeds are incapable of questioning the harm of sex (because that would not be "virtuous"), but in humanizing pedophilia I should hope they move away from humanizing us as tragically "afflicted" with sexual compulsions and more towards humanizing us as ordinary people for whom our sexual attractions are only one aspect of our overall humanity. The antis can deny all they want that pedophilia is a sexual orientation, but the virpeds could/should argue that attraction is simply not a compulsion to rape anyone as we make it through the day like anyone else.

I may not be a virped, but I do think it's better that they're out there doing their thing even if their activism could use improvement.

"But the SL boy community doesn't try to do politics at all. They just want a bit of space to express themselves."

Having read Thaddeus Russell perhaps you might appreciate how cultural expression can be a benefit to activism, however unintentionally.
