the necessary evil of adulting

Posted by Pharmakon on 2023-November-14 02:59:11, Tuesday

I've been staying away from Second Life because of health issues which limit my energy and relationships there can be so demanding. Plus the boy community in SL is so deep in denial about its pedophilia that I don't really feel I can be fully myself there like I can here.

But it is a community of BLs whether they are willing to admit it or not. Tonight one boy made a remark about the "necessary evil of adulting." I liked that. It's a perspective I think many of us can empathize with.

It's understandable that many BLs look for ways to express their boysexuality that provide them with some distance from the stigmata of pedophilia. Of course, our liberation requires that some of us bear that burden. But we have no right to demand that of anyone.

I am harsh with the VirPed folks because they do BL politics and they do it wrong. But the SL boy community doesn't try to do politics at all. They just want a bit of space to express themselves. That doesn't offend me.

It does bother me that the gap between BC and the SL boy community seems so unbridgeable. But when, like today, someone comes up with something like "the necessary evil of adulting," then I feel like we are not so far apart after all.

hugzu ;-p
