What on earth makes you think people won't opt for something that's insane? The whole mass hysteria about child sex since the 1980s that has caused so much suffering and done unspeakable damage to the fabric of society is insane, but that has not stopped the overwhelming majority of people being fervid supporters of it. Countless other examples can be found of reason and humanity being ignored when aggressively promoted insanity wins the status of fashionable and "enlightened" thought.
