That is recognizable. Even before I could read, I often went to a bookstore with my grandmother. She could spend hours browsing through the French novels and kept chatting with the owner. I then went to the back room where the comic books were stacked on the floor. He had a rich selection of Jungle books. Mowgli became there my hero. I was never allowed to take Mowgli with me. So every time I visited my grandmother I asked her if she already had finished all her French books, so we could go back to 'our' antique store and visit my friend.

Your boyhood adventure is entertaining. Nice of your boyfriend that he initially agreed to it. A pity you soon discovered that you had slightly different tastes.
