However he was "born that way" or whatever he got "turned into," I see nothing in what he puts on display to be proud of. If he can survive into adulthood the onslaught of the spectacle he is now required to make of himself, he can be proud of that. But until then: here is a young boy whose adolescence is swiftly robbing of the androgynous charm the spectacle was cashing in on. You can see how it troubles him; he looks like he's in shock, like he's been in shock for too long; look at those eyes... What can he do now though? He's already trans, already queer; the "escape routes" from adolescence that trans ideology promises have been prematurely short-circuited. Robbed of innocence, as it were. |
