Psychologists merely perpetuate cultural dogmas. They don't challenge narratives. Remember, homosexuality was de-criminalised before it was wiped from the DSM. In some places, it had been de-criminalised for a very long time beforehand. What happened? Culture changed. Why? Literature had a lot to do with it. I can't remember what poster it was that said this (paraphrasing), but a good novel can do more to change minds than some study... |
