A lawyer is not a complience in crime or committed to cover up crimes. Moreover, they are not spokeman for their clients. It is not wise to tell them of crimes, you are not accused of. It could be that the law requires them to give notice to the police.

The defense lawyer is required to ensure that the client gets not overrun. That the law is applied in the interest of his client. Even the worst murder has the right to a fair trial and the defense lawyer makes sure that the trial is fair. Only evidence should count.

When the Oslo terrorist was tried in court, he got the best defense lawyer at his side. And Geir Lippestad was very careful, it was probably the best trial in Norway that was executed exactly as the law dictates.
