Twitch had been paying their biggest star millions to keep him from switching to the other streaming platform called Mixer. When a star moves to the other platform, his fans follow him, setting up Mixer accounts for the first time. Helping the competition a lot. But Mixer just announced its shutting down. Now if Dr. Disrespect leaves Twitch its not going to cause thousands of kids to install a competitors app. Twitch figures that the fans aren't going anywhere now, so they have no incentive to keep paying Dr. Disrespect those big retainment rewards. Actually, Twitch would be better off financially to just ban Dr. Disrespect and save all that money they had contracted to pay him. Twitch has the freedom to ban anyone for whatever reason they want, they can just say he was overly disrespectful and the fans aren't going to stop using twitch over it. Or mayne they might, there is always that risk. An accusation that he did something rule violating would be worth millions to Twitch, especially something about being sexual with kids. No one could blame them for banning him over that. I don't even use twitch because i live out in the country and my internet is doo doo, so it just lags something terrible. I can watch youtube streamers tho. It's the commercials that make twitch lag, I think. Maybe I should buy the commercial free version of the Twitch app (if there is one?). But naw, I never have time to watch streamers. The only streamers I watch are little boys who I know and I watch their streams on youtube and talk on the chat with them. If I had a yf who was a ttv I guess I could install the app. Maybe this is a truism about apps in general. If you have one person worth installing the app for, its likely you would find other people to be a fan of. This is why it makes sense to pay big stars more than they bring in with ad revenue. Gets more people to install the app. |
