You missed all the good stuff...

Like having to put the telephone receiver on an audio modem (acaustic coupler) to connect to the internet at the 'lightning speed' of about 19k.

Computer gaming consisted of 'pong'

Then a little later connecting to the net at the seriously fast speed of 56k (with an internal modem in the computer)

Taking about 10 minutes to download an e-mail and at least twice that to upload....

When porn was on usenets.. taking 10 minutes to download one 'boy in a speedo' picture.

Downloading a video was unheard of.

My massive Hard Drive was about 3Gigs. and trading files with friends consisted of a box full of stify discs, sometimes needing several just for one picture (split saved) which we shared by going to each others house.

Then along came online chat... ICQ became popular and soon attracted ALL kinds of people. But still, back then most 'meetings' were in the flesh and not on the net.
