Now you are bringing back lots of memories for me...

The pitchy squeals and squawks of the 'handshake' is permanently burned into my memory.

I also did the mIRC thing for a while back then and yes connecting via the old dial-up... shit the bills ran up quite quickly, not to mention no one could use the phone while anyone was online...

So many nights, all night, spent online. so many 'new things' to explore and people to meet.
My first stash of 'boys in speedo's' was on 'stiffy disks' because a CD burner was just so darn expensive back then.

Long nights and mostly good times and clouds meant rain not somewhere to stash your stuff.
The world was so different back then.
Actually meeting IRL some of your 'chat buddies' was more the norm than the exception... my how times have changed.

I met an amazing YF (although we did not use that terminology back then) on mIRC. Turned out, after chatting with him in forums for almost 3 months, he lived less than a mile form my home... and he was not 14 as he said he was in chat. He was 12, not that it bothered me ;-)
Yup some good memories from way back then.
