VirPed -- no joy in what you are There has been a tension in VP from the beginning. There are those who really do hate their attractions and see no cause for joy and are uncomfortable with those who do. Many nonetheless feel VP is a Godsend. On the one hand, there are those who don't hate themselves and are accepting. Some of us even sometimes celebrate our feelings, celebrate attractive boys and girls, and celebrate rewarding non-sexual interactions. The admins and mods are mostly from this second group. We like to coax those in the first group to join us, though all we can do is state the case, and respect their path to finding what's right for them. Virped -- all orientation and no autonomy, no choice, If you mean no autonomy or choice about having sex with kids, then you're right. We feel strongly that we all must abstain. If you mean no autonomy or choice about the attraction, that's the way the science looks to us, but we're happy if people decide that they can have meaningful relationships with legal-age partners and focus on that. Or decide they have pedophile OCD. |
